The main idea was to form an industrial network with end of life (EOL) IT asset management firms, IT refurbishers, component manufacturers and local industries to create a new design that can have the effect of creating a new use for their waste and thus turning wastes into by-products.

D4R (Design for Recycling, ReUse, Repair & Refurbishment) Photovoltaic system

The main idea was the creation of an industrial network within and around the value chain of a PV system due to the integrated use of a combination of high-tech components of electronic and electric equipment industry, high-tech PV-specific components as PV modules and electronics and lower-tech components in the bill of materials of a typcial PV system.

ReUse Network and Resource Exchange Platform

The main idea was to enhance the regional network of ICT refurbishers and retailers around Berlin (Germany) by implementing a re-use business model, including a take-back scheme, a marketing strategy and measures of copying the concept to other product categories (e.g. construction material) and to other regions in Europe.

The main idea was to establish – through ecological as well as economic and social improvements within a logistical system that can be directly influenced by bauserve – an industrial network around selected construction projects in Germany such as the refurbishment of Deutsche Bank's Head Office.

Demolition of End-of-Life buildings in the UK

The main idea was to demonstrate continous improvement towards resource efficiency in UK demolition projects by tracking progress towards sustainable best practice on six individual demolition sites from different eras. The purpose of selecting buildings from different eras was to identify the relative recyclability of materials and the capture of resources from building products used at the time of construction.
