Evening Reception by the Mayor of Vienna
The Reception by the Mayor of Vienna will take place in the Vienna City Hall, one of the most splendid landmarks amongst the numerous monumental buildings along Vienna's Ring Road. Designed by Friedrich Schmidt (1825 – 1891), it was erected between 1872 and 1883. The architecture of the Ringstraße is dominated by Historicism. The City Hall was built in gothical style, with a tower similar to gothic cathedrals.
Dinner at a typical Viennese “Heuriger”
Even after Maria has left Vienna and her brother Joseph was running the tavern, the good reputation lasted and many famous persons came to visit the "10er Marie": Prince Royal Rudolf and his carriage driver Bratfisch, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauß father, the Schrammel brothers, Franz Lehar, Josef Weinheber, Emmerich Kálmán, Robert Stolz and the Viennese composer Karl Föderl.
... until today:
Today the listed building is the last remnant of the old village in the middle of Ottakring. It represents an oasis of calm which offers relaxation and an escape from everyday stresses. Celebrities and artists as well as tourists and guests enjoy the time at these typical Viennese "Heuriger", the oldest in town.
